The suspect in the killing of a Rohnert Park man six months ago has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities said Thursday.
Berry Lamiris Adams, 32, of San Francisco, is suspected of shooting to death Kevin "Ziggy" Craft, 20, whose body was found April 22 behind the Best Western Inn on Redwood Drive.
Adams was arrested Tuesday on a warrant related to the homicide, charged with felony possession of a handgun and pimping and pandering, with an enhancement for actions resulting in great bodily harm, said Rohnert Park Det. Sgt. Jeff Nicks.
Adams was not arrested on suspicion of homicide, but Nicks said Adams remains the suspect in the homicide. He declined to elaborate on the pimping and pandering charges.
Craft's father said police had discussed with him the events of the night his son was killed but he could not yet comment on them.
"We are aware of the circumstances but as a family we are not prepared to make a statement at this time," Curtis Craft said. "The truth will come at trial."
Las Vegas police arrested the unarmed Adams without incident about three miles from the city's world famous strip, in front of an apartment building, Nicks said.
Rohnert Park detectives had contacted their Las Vegas counterparts following an anonymous tip, he said.
Craft had attended Rancho Cotate and El Camino high schools and was nearing his 21st birthday when he was killed. He worked at his father's printing business and was planning to attend Santa Rosa Junior College.
Adams is expected to be extradited to Sonoma County within 30 days, Nicks said.
Adams and a female companion were captured on a surveillance video in a local convenience store buying cigarettes about 90 minutes before Craft's body was found.
The woman in the video has been questioned and is not considered a suspect, Nicks said.
Curtis Craft said his family was grateful for the "love and support" from the community following his son's death, as well as to the police department for its work to solve the case.
"We are very relieved today and pleased to know that no more harm will happen out of this event," Craft said.
