8 arrested in Sonoma County courthouse sting targeting unlicensed drivers

A courthouse sting targeting drivers under court order prohibiting them from getting behind the wheel of a car found that more than half did so anyway and were arrested Tuesday.

Eight of 14 offenders followed from court hearings Tuesday ended up under arrest for driving with suspended licenses, police said.

Officers from Santa Rosa and Petaluma police departments conducted the sting Tuesday morning targeting drivers told not to drive because of offenses like drunken driving, previous driving with suspended or revoked license offenses, or driving while not being licensed at all.

Those who drove away from the courthouse were arrested by awaiting officers. Their vehicles also were towed and impounded for 30 days.

Those arrested included:

Mark Pickett, 32, of Novato. Pickett has four current suspensions.

Joshua Wagle, 41, of Santa Rosa. Two current suspensions.

Carol Bird, 63, of Windsor. Two current suspensions.

Jose Angel Flores Jr., 35, of Vallejo. Two current suspensions.

Guadalupe Diaz Maza, 46, of Petaluma. Two current suspensions.

Alfredo Jose Ling-Arceo, 19, of Santa Rosa. One current suspension.

Alex Jacobs, 25, of San Leandro. One current suspension.

Chris Flemming, 29, of Rohnert Park. One current suspension.
