The Santa Rosa Junior College art gallery will be named after Robert F. Agrella, who led the campus as president for nearly 22 years.
Agrella announced his retirement in September 2010 and stepped down in January. He was named the school's first president emeritus.
The SRJC Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to rename the art gallery Tuesday. A celebration is planned and likely will take place in the fall, said President Frank Chong.
Agrella is credited with steering the campus through the establishment of the dental hygiene, pharmaceutical tech and other health programs; the bond-funded construction of hundreds of millions of dollars worth of new buildings in Petaluma and Santa Rosa; and the inception of an early-college high school.
The art gallery, established in 1973, is now located in the Frank P. Doyle Library on the Santa Rosa campus.
