Incumbents Pam Stafford and Amy Ahanotu were leading the race for two open Rohnert Park City Council seats.

With all 15 precincts counted Wednesday morning, Stafford had 39.8 percent of the vote, Ahanotu had 35.4 percent and challenger David Grundman had 24.4 percent.

'I'm very happy,' Stafford said. 'I appreciate that people think I'm doing okay.'

The contest in Sonoma County's third largest city was quiet with neither candidate campaigning much. Grundman entered the race on the last day to file, ensuring a council election after the 2012 election was canceled when no challengers stepped forward.

Stafford, an aerobics instructor, was first elected in 2006. Ahanotu, branch manager of Redwood Credit Union, won his first election in 2010.

Karen Miller, a retired nurse, said she voted for the two incumbents because she liked the current direction of the city, and because she did not know much about Grundman.

'I think the city is doing fine,' she said. 'I didn't really know the new guy. I didn't hear much about him.'
