Petaluma police officers early Sunday morning arrested a man they suspect purposely struck and injured another man with his car, Sgt. Andrew Urton said in a press release.

Moses Hunt, 18, of Petaluma is suspected of driving his car into a man who was trying to stop him from speeding around Little Woods Mobile Villa on Lakeville Highway.

Police were called out at about 1:45 a.m., when numerous people reported a driver intentionally hitting a man with his vehicle.

They found a man lying in the road, with many people trying to help him. He did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

The victim told police he had seen Hunt nearly hit another person while speeding around the complex. He tried to make Hunt stop by standing in the road and gesturing to him with his hand.

But Hunt continued driving and hit the victim, police said. Witnesses said they saw Hunt race away at high speeds.

Officers later found Hunt and his damaged vehicle at his home. Witnesses identified him as the man driving, prompting police to arrest him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and book him into county jail.
