Head-on crash on Highway 1 near Fort Ross kills motorcyclist

A motorcyclist from Vallejo was killed and two other riders seriously injured when a car crossed into their lane on Highway 1 near Fort Ross Saturday afternoon, according to the CHP.

A 19-year-old driver from Concord, Alexander Odgers-McGuire, was southbound near Fort Ross Historic State Park when he drifted over the opposite lane and into a line of motorcyclists, Sgt. Ross Ingels said.

'He was probably going too fast,' Ingels said.

The motorcycle riders were part of a group that met up in Mill Valley and planned to ride 140 miles up the coast and end in Healdsburg, Ingels said.

When Odgers-McGuire's Toyota Rav4 crossed into the opposite lane, it struck three riders. Robert Rodgers, 55, of Oakland, was riding a Ducati and was struck in the leg. Phillip Telesforo, 54, of Rohnert Park, was riding a Yamaha and was struck head-on.

Both suffered major injuries and were flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. A third man from Vallejo was also hit head-on and was killed by the impact, Ingels said. His name was not released by the Sonoma County corner, and is pending notification of family.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor, Ingels said
