Highway 29 in Napa County near Mt. St. Helena was closed Sunday night for about three hours following a crash that involved a vehicle tangled in fallen power lines, according to Cal Fire dispatch reports.

The crash occurred at about 8:50 p.m., just within the Napa County line on the winding rural highway, which connects Napa and Lake counties. The road was closed at Robert Louis Stevenson Park and back open by about 11:30 p.m.

Initial crash information early Monday wasn’t available from the CHP, but one vehicle reportedly was involved and initial information indicated power lines became attached to the vehicle’s bumper.

The lines apparently sparked a small roadside fire.

The crash happened at about the time a small amount of rain fell on the region - just enough to wet roadways. Whether that played a role in the crash wasn’t initially clear.

After the first crash, another one occurred higher up the hill, according to Cal Fire. Details weren’t available on that incident.
