OAKLAND — A San Francisco Bay Area police officer shot a woman who rammed a stolen vehicle into an undercover police car.

San Leandro police in marked police vehicles tried to pull the woman over after spotting her driving a stolen vehicle around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Oakland, said Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson. San Leandro police were conducting an unrelated investigation in Oakland, said Watson.

The driver drove on the sidewalk, hit several parked cars and rammed the unmarked police car, Watson said. The officer in the unmarked car shot the woman, who was taken to a hospital. Her condition was not available.

A male passenger in the stolen car was detained and questioned, Watson said. No police officers were injured.

The San Leandro and Oakland police departments are investigating.
