Two Highway 101 crashes in Santa Rosa slow traffic

The CHP Tuesday reported Highway 101 crashes in Santa Rosa in both directions with no apparent major injuries but lousy traffic jams.|

Two Tuesday morning commute-time crashes on Highway 101 resulted in major traffic backups in south- and northbound directions, the CHP reported.

In a northbound crash just north of Highway 12 at about 8:20 a.m. two or three vehicles collided, causing apparently minor injuries to at least one person.

That person was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the CHP said.

The crash initially blocked lanes but the roadway was completely opened by about 8:50 a.m. Traffic from that one reportedly stretched down into southern Santa Rosa.

About 25 minutes after the northbound crash, vehicles collided in southbound lanes near River Road, blocking two of the highway’s three lanes, the CHP reported.

The crash occurred just north of River Road and was reported at 8:43 a.m.

CHP traffic reports indicated drivers were backed up to Airport Boulevard and delays were expected to take five minutes or so.

The vehicles were moved to the shoulder by 9 a.m.

Whether there were injuries involved in the second crash wasn’t initially clear.
