Petaluma City Schools have hired a new director of human resources, Linda Scheele, who is no stranger to the local school system. She has been the principal of Casa Grande High School since 2008.

“Her ability to work collegially with many different personality types and to forge strong personal relationships with all employees has made her successful,” the district said in its announcement of Scheele’s promotion.

Scheele came to Petaluma with 13 years of secondary classroom teaching experience in English, journalism and yearbook. She taught middle school while living in Kansas and spent six years teaching at Windsor High School. Before becoming principal at Casa Grande, she was an assistant principal there.

While at Casa, Scheele helped develop the teacher evaluation system, served on the negotiation team and was a member of the trust committee.

Scheele received a bachelor’s degree in English from Indiana University, a master’s in curriculum and instruction from the University of Kansas and an administrative services credential from Sonoma State University.

She and her husband Tim have lived in Petaluma for about 16 years. She begins her new position on July 1.
