Two Lake County women were seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a Hopland-area car crash, according to the CHP.

The women were taken to area hospitals with major injuries after the 4:10 p.m. crash on Highway 175, east of Buckman Drive.

Driver Nancy Larios, 28, was headed west in a 1987 Toyota when her car drove off the road and onto the dirt shoulder. Coming back onto the road, the car crossed both lanes and ran off the other side, smashing into a large oak tree.

Larios was able to get out of the car on her own. Passenger Patty Wade, 44, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was pinned by the wreckage. Cal Fire and Hopland firefighters responded and cut Wade free.

Wade, of Middletown, was taken by a VeriHealth ambulance crew to Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Larios, of Clearlake, was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital by REACH air ambulance. They were out of the hospitals by Monday.

What caused Larios to lose control wasn’t clear, the CHP said.
