Authorities arrested a Willits woman Thursday on suspicion of embezzling more than $450,000 from the market where she worked.

Christine Kelsay, 33, was arrested at her home early Thursday after a four-month investigation into allegations that she stole money from the Long Valley Market in Laytonville over several years.

Store owners contacted the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office in January to report their suspicions. Detectives obtained numerous warrants to collect evidence from Kelsay’s home, banks and an Internet service provider.

Kelsay was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of embezzlement, grand theft, a special allegation of white collar crime and a second special allegation of theft in excess of $200,000. Her bail was set at $50,000.
