A Cloverdale man who escaped Sebastopol police Wednesday night after leading them on a high-speed chase was found and arrested Friday, Sebastopol police said in a news release.

Salvio Ingegneri, 19, was found by Cloverdale and Sebastopol police officers Friday evening hiding at a friend’s house and arrested on suspicion of a number of charges, including evading police with a disregard for safety, committing a felony while on bail, possessing a controlled substance and hit-and-run.

The charges stem from a chase that began about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, when a Sebastopol officer tried to stop a car driven by Ingegneri for going about 70 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to police. Ingegneri didn’t stop and led the officer on a 3-mile chase down rural roads, reaching speeds of about 90 mph, police said. The chase ended when he took a sharp turn and hit a guard rail on Elphick Road at Zaft Road, disabling his car. From there he ran away on foot, police said.

Police, with help from the Sheriff’s Office, searched for the man but couldn’t find him. His vehicle suffered major damage and contained drugs, including morphine pills and marijuana, police said. Earlier in the month Ingegneri had been convicted of felony weapons charges, police said. He has yet to be sentenced for that and was out on bail.
