A section of Northern California highway will be closed for up to eight weeks after the roadway collapsed following days of heavy rain, authorities said.

Authorities reported the closure of Highway 3, 10 miles north of Weaverville, late Monday night.

Complete repairs may take up to three months, according to Caltrans.
