A small earthquake Monday morning shook an area about 4 miles northeast of downtown Sonoma.

The 2.5-magnitude rattler struck at 8:14 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was measured at an intensity level of III, which the service defines as a “weak” quake, meaning there was likely no damage.

The quake was felt west to Boyes Hot Springs, east to Napa and almost as far north as St. Helena, according to the USGS site.

It measured at a depth of 9 kilometers, or about 5 1/2 miles.

By noon, 25 people had reported on the USGS site they’d felt the tremor: 12 in Sonoma, 10 in Napa, and one each in Yountville, Petaluma and Albany.
