A man and woman were hospitalized Thursday night after being struck by ?a car in Windsor while walking in a crosswalk a block south of the Town Green.

Two days after the crash, details remained scarce Saturday. Windsor police, who work under the direction of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday confirmed that two pedestrians had been struck by a car and were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. But police have yet to put out a press release or name those involved.

Sources have said the injured pedestrians are a husband and wife, possibly in their 60s, and that both remain in the hospital, with the woman in the intensive care unit.

In response to a Press Democrat request, Sgt. Cecile Focha, the Sheriff’s Office public information officer, on Saturday evening reported that a man and woman were hit by the driver of a blue Toyota Prius about 10 p.m. Thursday in a crosswalk on Windsor River Road at Market Street.

The pair’s injuries were serious enough that both were taken by ambulance to the hospital, Focha said.

Police closed Windsor River Road for about three hours following the crash, she said.

Focha said she didn’t yet have the names of the driver or the injured pedestrians.

Police did talk to witnesses of the crash, she said, and the matter remains under investigation.
