A San Francisco man suffered major injuries Wednesday when his pickup truck veered off Lakeville Highway and rolled over, the CHP said.

Forbes Kiddoo, 78, was driving north on the highway at about 3:30 p.m. toward Petaluma when for unknown reasons his pickup drifted off the road into an embankment, Sgt. Erik Egide said.

The 1999 Ford Silverado rolled over, trapping Kiddoo until emergency personnel arrived and freed him from the wreckage, Egide said.

Kiddoo was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The crash, which occurred near Old Lakeville Road No. 2, required the CHP to shut the highway in both directions for about 30 minutes. The road was fully re-opened at 4:42 p.m.

The crash was in the same area of a June 29 crash that killed the driver of a big rig. The CHP said the driver drifted off the rural highway and smashed into a tree. The truck burst into flames on impact and the driver was unable to escape.
