Teen arrested after break-in at Rohnert Park high school

Police said the teen and possibly others broke into the Cougar Den at Rancho Cotate High School and made off with clothes and soda over the weekend.|

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Saturday in connection with a break-in at the Cougar Den, a shop on the campus of Rancho Cotate High School that sells school gear.

The burglary was discovered by school staff after they arrived at the Rohnert Park campus Saturday morning. Someone had broken a window to enter the shop and had taken clothes and soda.

Some of the clothing was scattered on the ground near the shop and on ?nearby athletic fields, ?police said.

Officers also discovered dried blood on window blinds inside the Cougar Den, as well as on some of the discarded items of clothing.

Police said the teen, who was not identified because of his age, turned himself in to authorities later in the day. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and released to his parents.

The teen did not have any injuries, police said, leading them to speculate others were involved in the break-in.

Police asked anyone with information to call 707-584-2600.
