Man killed at Knights Valley property identified

A man killed at a remote Knights Valley property in an apparent stabbing was identified as Cesar Gonzalez-Rivas, 40, of Geyserville, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said Sunday.

Gonzalez-Rivas was stabbed multiple times in an assault reported about 3 p.m. Thursday by a caller at a residence on a wooded parcel off Highway 128 between Geyserville and Calistoga, sheriff’s officials said.

Arent Bradt, 33, of Port Huron, Mich. was being held without bail at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of killing Gonzalez-Rivas. Investigators have not released details about a motive.

Gonzalez-Rivaz was on the ground outside and Bradt was nearby when the first deputy got to the property, officials said. The sheriff’s helicopter crew tried to resuscitate Gonzalez-Rivas, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was scheduled to take place Monday. Bradt was set to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sonoma County Superior Court.
