Try on some shoes in Sebastopol, help women who are homeless
A Sebastopol boutique and an Israeli shoe maker are making it awfully easy to materially assist the residents of a Santa Rosa shelter for homeless women and their children.
Through Sunday, the Naot shoe company and the Silk Moon shop will donate a pair of Naot shoes to the Sloan House shelter for each customer who tries on a pair of the manufacturer’s shoes.
For each shopper who purchases a pair of Naot shoes, the manufacturer and Silk Moon will donate two pairs of shoes, boots or clogs to residents of the shelter.
The unusual offer is thrilling to staff of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County, which manages the Sloan House.
The 22-bed shelter was named for the late Eddie Mae Sloan, an anti-poverty warrior and co-founder of the predecessor to the Community Action Partnership, Sonoma County People for Economic Opportunity.
