Man suspected of brandishing pellet gun in Santa Rosa gas station dispute

A driver dispute at a gas station ended with one man brandishing a gun, police said.|

One driver cut another off, someone honked and a gun came out.

The gun - what turned out to be a pellet gun made to look like a .357-caliber revolver - was brandished just after 3 p.m. Wednesday during an encounter at the Costco gas station on Santa Rosa Avenue, Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Dave Linscomb said.

Mason Duran, 25, of Bodega was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a replica firearm as well as two misdemeanor arrest warrants for failing to appear in court for an unrelated drug case, Linscomb said.

A 911 caller said Duran, driving a Volkswagen Jetta, cut him off at the gas station so he honked. The Jetta driver then held up a gun and made hand gestures, unnerving the caller who noted the license plate number and dialed 911, according to police. Officers found Duran at a house on the 900-block of Stevenson Street, where he was arrested.
