Overturned dump truck spills dirt on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa

The crash caused a miles-long backup as crews clear dirt spilled in the Friday crash.|

A dump truck overturned and lost its load on northbound Highway 101 near the Todd Road exit around 12:30 p.m. Friday, covering the right lanes with dirt and debris causing significant traffic delays.

One other vehicle was caught up in the debris, but there were no reported injuries, said Officer Jon Sloat, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Traffic was backed up for miles with two lanes closed for nearly two hours as the dirt was swept off the highway. The road was cleared by about 2:15 p.m.
