We’re all invited to a spaghetti feed in Santa Rosa later this month that Connie Camara-Rodrigues girds herself to attend.
The Aug. 26 community meal will be a benefit for Connie. Just eight weeks ago she was searching for her children, 6-year-old Juliana, and Julian, 19 months, when she learned their bodies were found in her estranged husband’s Slater Street apartment. It appears the kids’ father killed them and then himself.
The moment Art Ibleto, Sonoma County’s Pasta King, read of the tragedy he knew he had to do something for Connie.
He’ll provide the pasta for the community coming-together from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall on Pacific Avenue. Tickets are $10, $5 for kids, and will be sold at the door.
Hosting the benefit to provide assistance to Connie is Local 83 of the Painters & Drywall Finishers Union.
The children’s grandfather, John Rodrigues, belongs to the local. Their father, Alvaro Botelho Da Camara, was a member, too.
“We’re devastated,” said Matt Egan, business representative for Local 83. “We consider ourselves a big family.”
Pitching in on the meal are two Odd Fellows lodges, Lombardi’s Catering, Michael’s Sourdough and Ace Promotional Specialties.
We need only to show up, buy a ticket and eat.
