YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK - Officials at Yosemite National Park say two people were injured when a tree branch broke loose during strong wind gusts and crashed down onto a family's car.

Ranger Jamie Richards said Tuesday that an adult and child were flown by a medical helicopter Sunday evening to a nearby hospital for treatment.

She says the car had stopped in a roadside pull-out along Big Oak Flat Road. The branch fell on the car carrying a family of four.

Richards did not know the ages of the two or the degree of their injuries. She says the accident involved one car, and it is under investigation.

Richards says park officials immediately sent a work crew to the area to cut down dead trees along the roadside and remove other dangerous tree limbs.
