A 30-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested on suspicion of raping his estranged wife in her Rohnert Park home with their infant daughter next to them, authorities said Friday.
The victim, 41, accompanied by a friend, reported the alleged crime to Rohnert Park police Wednesday, saying the suspect had come to her home Tuesday to see his child and gotten into an argument with her in the bedroom, Sgt. Jeff Justice said in a press release.
The man allegedly threw the woman onto the bed, held her down by her head and assaulted her, Justice said. An examination by a nurse determined the woman had been injured, Justice said.
Detectives worked through the night Wednesday attempting to find the suspect, and about noon Thursday he was spotted driving on Airport Boulevard and apprehended on Highway 101 in Rohnert Park, Justice said.
Adrian Madrigal-Chavez was arrested on suspicion of rape by force or fear, sodomy and child endangerment and held at Sonoma County Jail on $125,000 bail.
