Santa Rosa checkpoint nets five on DUI charges
Four adults and one juvenile were arrested Saturday night during a DUI checkpoint in west Santa Rosa.
The checkpoint, which was conducted by the Santa Rosa Police Department on Stony Point Road near Stony Circle, between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. also screened drivers for license violations.
Officers screened 473 drivers, of which four were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. One driver, a juvenile, was arrested on suspicion of being drug impaired and 55 people were either cited or arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle without a license or on a suspended or revoked license.
Police said the juvenile was later booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.
Two people were arrested on outstanding warrants and another two were given citations for miscellaneous vehicle code violations.
The checkpoints were aimed at discouraging people from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
