Interim director named for Sonoma County Library

The announcement comes after former director Brett Lear’s resignation in May.|

Two months after the resignation of its director, the Sonoma County Library Commission has named former Central Library Branch Manager Tracy Gray interim director.

Gray has been serving as acting director since the departure of Brett Lear, who left the position suddenly in May.

Helena Whistler, chairwoman of the Library Commission, said the search process before hiring Lear in 2014 took about six months, and she expected the process this time to take about as long.

The commission likely will set up a committee to lead the search at its August meeting, she said.
