A 74-year-old woman likely mistook the gas pedal for the brake and crashed into Garrett Ace Hardware in Healdsburg just after 11 a.m. Friday, said Healdsburg Police Sgt. Hector Altamirano.

Neither the woman nor her passenger were not hurt, but the Buick caused significant damage to the store when it broke through an external wall and took out a row of Yeti coolers and Weber grills, said Assistant Manager Ryan Scott.

“It was really loud, but luckily no one was standing in that area,” Scott said.

The car was also damaged but emergency crews were able to drive the vehicle out of the building without issue, Altamirano said.

“They were really scared, poor things, but thankfully neither of them were hurt,” Altamirano said of the two women in the car.
