A Sacramento County man was arrested near Cloverdale early Wednesday after police pulled him over for speeding and found drugs and weapons in his car, officials said.

Oneill Fernandez, 38, of Elk Grove, was stopped by a CHP officer who spotted him driving 82 mph on north Highway 101 past Asti Road about 6:50 a.m.

The officer saw a Crosman BB gun in the Nissan being driven by Fernandez, according to a CHP news release.

When the officer smelled cannabis coming out of the car Fernandez allegedly showed him a backpack with two baggies inside and also exposed another bag the officer believed to contain methamphetamine.

Fernandez was ordered out of the vehicle and detained. The CHP officer thought he saw another gun in the car, but after searching the Nissan, officers determined it was a car jack handle being used as a weapon, police said.

Fernandez was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of possessing meth, a billy club, brass knuckles, having an open container of pot and driving without a license, the CHP said.
