SACRAMENTO - A California state prison inmate who was mistakenly released after a Sacramento County court appearance has been captured.

The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says 40-year-old Alamar Houston was apprehended in Sacramento early Thursday.

Houston was supposed to be returned to state custody after the court proceeding but was released Tuesday when that case was dismissed.

Houston entered the prison system from Yolo County in January to serve a 35-year sentence for vehicle theft, evading a peace officer while driving recklessly, hit-and-run causing injury to another person, and assault with a deadly weapon.
