A family fair with face-painting, balloon-making and booths follows the 45-minute concert, which includes visual presentations of both countries. The performance will be narrated in English and Spanish.

Nuestra Voz: Lideres de Sonoma presents its Mexican Independence Day celebration at the Sonoma Plaza from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13. The celebration includes Aztec and folkloric dancers and music from the Napa-based band Valle Alegre. A ceremony presided by a representative from the Consulate of Mexico in San Francisco starts at 4 p.m.

Independence Day: Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with a dinner, dance, queen coronation and presentation of Latinos Unidos scholarships on Sept. 13 at the Mary Agatha Furth Center, 8400 Old Redwood Highway.
