Dick Evans: The author of “The Mission,” a lively look at life in the Mission District and its public art, makes an appearance at 6 p.m. at the Consulate General of Mexico at 532 Folsom St., San Francisco.

Roseland Cinco de Mayo: Roseland's annual Cinco de Mayo festival on Sebastopol Road in Santa Rosa runs from 4 to 9 p.m., with live entertainment on two stages. Historically, the music has included mariachi, Banda, fusion, salsa and pop-rock and featured dance styles have included Ballet Folklorico and Danza Azteca. santarosacincodemayo.com.

Windsor Cinco de Mayo: Windsor Parks and Recreation Department and the Windsor Rotary Club present their annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Windsor Town Green, 9455 Bell Road, Windsor. Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan: Founded in 1898, this celebrated ensemble has emerged as a leading authentic mariachi band, recording and touring internationally. The group brings the sounds of old Mexico to Santa Rosa in a one-night-only engagement. Admission is $39 to $85. American Crown Circus: Experience the circus, bilingual style, when the American Crown Circus/Circus Osorio performs in the carnival lot at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, 1350 Bennett Valley Road, in Santa Rosa. Shows feature circuses from around the world, and are narrated in Spanish, with performances 7:30 p.m. Thursday; 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30 p.m. Monday.
