OAKLAND — Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was named an All-Star starter for the Western Conference for a second straight season Thursday.

'I'm definitely blessed to play this game being healthy and playing at a high level, and for people to notice and support and vote for All-Star and follow the career means a lot,' Curry said before the announcement.

Curry will head to Madison Square Garden for the Feb. 15 game and will be joined by coach Steve Kerr and possibly backcourt mate Klay Thompson, who could be voted by the coaches an All-Star reserve next week.

Curry last season also received more than a million votes.

'It's still surreal,' Curry said of a second selection. 'I guess that's a good thing. It still feels fresh and feels like something that I didn't expect. To actually see it come to reality is pretty special. The whole New York vibe is going to be crazy.'

Curry is drawing MVP consideration in his sixth season with the Warriors. He is seventh in the league in scoring (23.2 points per game), first in steals (2.1), fourth in free throw percentage (.915) and fifth in assists (8.1).

Curry has 12 double-doubles and three 30-point, 10-assist games this season. He ranks third with 121 3-pointers this season and earlier this month became the fastest player in league history to make 1,000 in his career.

Curry expressed interest in participating in the Three-Point Shootout on All-Star Saturday night for a fourth time.

'I'm doing that until I win it,' Curry said. 'I'm salty about that.'

Curry could be joined by Thompson in the All-Star Game and the Shootout. Both average more than 20 points per game on the team with a league-best 34-6 record. The Warriors haven't had multiple All-Stars appear in the game since Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin in 1992.

'There's no doubt in my mind he'll be on that team just understanding from a league standpoint he's the best two guard in the league on both sides of the basketball,' Curry said.

Kerr, who along with his staff will coach the Western Conference after the Warriors clinched the best record for the conference through Feb. 1, also said earning the selection was surreal.

'To think that I just got into this gig, and to be coaching the All-Star game, it doesn't seem real,' Kerr said. 'Obviously a lot has gone into this, mostly the players just doing what they've done all year, but it's also a testament to our staff.'

Kerr became the first Warriors coach to lead the All-Star team since Don Nelson in 1992, as the Warriors are off to the best start in the NBA history for a first-year coach. Golden State is the 10th team in league history to win at least 34 of its first 40 games.

The Warriors lead the league in field goal percentage (.487) and opponent field goal percentage (.421), points per game (110.7), assists per game (27.1), 3-point field goal percentage (.390) and point differential (+11.8).

'I'm loving every second,' Kerr said. 'Are you kidding me? We're 34-6. How can you not love that? We're incredibly lucky to all be a part of this and to be together and play in front of our fans, live in the Bay Area. Life's good. I don't have any stress right now.'
