Going out on New Year’s Eve isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But if going out on New Year’s Eve day is more your speed, Ryme Cellars is the place to party, or pre-party, for a jump on the end-of-the-year celebration. From noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Ryme will be pouring some of their favorite wines like a gruner veltliner, grenache or one of their Italian varietals and pairing them with chef Daniel Kedan’s fried chicken from gone-but-not-forgotten Forestville restaurant Backyard. Party until the cows come home at Maison

For those who prefer to sleep all day and party all night, Maison Healdsburg will host its first masquerade ball beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday. The wine bar, which opened about six months ago and has made a name for itself as a happening late-night spot, will have several champagnes to purchase by the glass for $15 each or bottles discounted at 20% off. Small bites also will be available including a special snack for anyone who comes in true masquerade fashion, wearing a mask of the non-N-95 variety. 210 Healdsburg Ave.

Saturday night special for DeLoach dinner

Once upon a time, Saturday date nights were synonymous with prime rib and Caesar salad tossed tableside. DeLoach Vineyards is bringing back that vibe for a night of prime rib and pinot noir from 5:30-8 p.m. Jan. 6. Join DeLoach Master of Wine Clare Tooley, who will host this intimate dinner at the estate guest house. The winemaker for Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah will use his expertise in wine and rare fragrances, plus his love of music, in a wine and aromatics event from 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at his Sonoma tasting room (also on Jan. 27). Guests will taste wines as they would in a regular tasting, then they’ll taste again paired with rare scents and sounds to create new sensory landscapes. Pastry, chocolate classes at Quail & Condor

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to make sure your baking skills are on point, Quail & Condor Bakery has a new round of classes to help. Join baker Lisal Moram to learn about making laminated dough (puff pastry) in classes offered from 4-6:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and again on Feb. 17. Attendees will make puff pastry, then learn how to shape and bake it for tarts, danishes and caramelized palmier cookies. For chocolate lovers, classes from 4-6:30 p.m. on Feb. 10 and Feb. 14 will teach you how to make chocolate caramel tarts, pots de crème and chocolate sandwich cookies with white chocolate-mint filling.
