There are still openings for a free dinner trek on Friday of the historic Poff Ranch, a historic property offering high elevation views of the Sonoma Coast and the mouth of the Russian River.

The moderate hike led by Landpaths, explores what was one of the largest privately owned tracts of land on the coast when was bequeathed to the Sonoma County Agricultural and Open Space District in 2007.

The 1,238 acre ranch, which adjoins Sonoma Coast State park and the Pomo Canyon Trail, is more than 1,000 feet at its summit. The hike, beginning on The Kortum Trail near Shell Beach, will explore some of the old agricultural relics on the ranch and will stop for dinner at the summit, more than 1,100 feet up and boasting views of the ocean and raptor sitings.

The hike begins at 1:30 p.m. and ends about 6:30 p.m.

Hikers will join up with participants in TrekSonoma, a three-day camping trek led by LandPaths that starts Friday at the coast and ends Sunday Aug. 9 at Bohemia Ecological Preserve near Occidental.?Pre-registration is required for the afternoon hike. Landpaths.org or outings@landpaths.org.
