Napa Valley Vine Trail wins global award in wine tourism

Napa Valley Vine Trail receives Global Achievements in Wine Tourism at the 2024 Best of Wine Tourism Awards Ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland.|

Great Wine Capitals Global Network awarded the Napa Valley Vine Trail with a Global Achievements in Wine Tourism honor at the 2024 Best of Wine Tourism Awards Ceremony.

Of 11 worldwide regions noted for the wine industry, the Vine Trail was recognized for the San Francisco-Napa Valley U.S. region.

Lili Ramos, marketing and events specialist at Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition, said the organization is thrilled to be acknowledged.

“This prestigious award from the Great Wine Capitals recognizes our commitment to promoting wine tourism, sustainable practices, and enhancing the visitor experience in our region,” she said.

The network annually hosts a conference and ceremony for renowned wine destinations to celebrate excellence and innovation in wine tourism.

The 2024 event was held at Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In a Great Wine Capitals news release, director of Lausanne tourism Steeve casche said the organization was honored to host the annual conference.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Switzerland to show our wine tourism offerings and to establish Lausanne on the prestigious and international map as a Great Wine Capital,” Pasche said.

The organization received 551 applications from 11 wine regions across the globe for this year’s awards.

In addition to the San Francisco-Napa Valley region, awarded areas included Adelaide, South Australia; Bilbao-Rioja, Spain; Bordeaux, France; Cape Winelands, South Africa; Lausanne; Mainz-Rheinhessen, Germany; Mendoza, Argentina; Porto, Portugal; Valparaíso-Casablanca Valley, Chile; and Verona, Italy.
