Ryan Klobas, who served as CEO of the Napa County Farm Bureau, died by apparent suicide in Orinda on Jan. 16, a spokesperson for the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday.

Orinda police officers — along with an ambulance and the local fire department — responded to a report of a person lying by his vehicle at about 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 16. That was in the area of Bear Creek Road and Camino Pablo, according to the sheriff’s office.

The person, who was later identified as Klobas — a resident of El Sobrante — was pronounced dead at the scene.
