Santa Rosa police made three arrests during a DUI checkpoint, operated on Friday evening.
The department conducted the checkpoint at Morgan Street and Fifth Street in downtown Santa Rosa from 8 p.m.to midnight, according to a Santa Rosa Police Department news release.
Of the 647 drivers police spoke with during the checkpoint, 19 were evaluated for suspicion of driving under the influence.
One driver was arrested on a felony warrant, while another was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, and was suspected of carrying a loaded, concealed firearm. The third driver was cited after an open container of alcohol was found in their vehicle, according to the release.
Officials also issued citations to 18 drivers for operating a vehicle without a license, while three drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended/revoked license.
The Santa Rosa Police Department selects DUI checkpoint locations based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes, the release stated.
The checkpoint was paid for using grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
