Quarterbacks

Colin Kaepernick was under heavy pressure, but he must take some responsibility for his 91-yard passing day.

Running Backs

Frank Gore was a bright spot. Kendall Hunter lost a second-half fumble.

Receivers

Same old story – these guys just weren't getting open, especially after TE Vernon Davis got hurt.

Offensive Line

The line was overmatched and outplayed by Carolina from the start.

Defensive Line

Justin Smith and Glenn Dorsey did a good job clogging the line of scrimmage.

Linebackers

Seven tackles each for Willis and Bowman, and Ahmad Brooks (3 sacks) was a terror.

Defensive Backs

Tramaine Brock had an interception and Donte Whitner forced a fumble, but the Panthers did find open receivers late.

Special Teams

Phil Dawson was 3 for 3 on field-goal tries. The 49ers got hurt by a Ted Ginn punt return, though.

Coaching/Overall

Whatever the Niners did during their bye week, they should do the opposite next time.
