Big rig runs off Old Adobe Road, causing grass fire

An 18-wheel big rig ran off the side of Old Adobe Road east of Petaluma Thursday, felling a power line that ignited a grass fire, an emergency dispatcher said.

The CHP reported the accident about 3:30 p.m. on Old Adobe Road just north of Highway 116.

The crash snarled traffic, while the fire burned a half-mile stretch of brush and grass. The truck also was fully engulfed in flames, CHP said.

The truck driver was uninjured, the dispatcher said.
