Bike rider who died in Petaluma crash identified

The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office Wednesday morning released the name of the bicycle rider who died from injuries in a crash Monday afternoon in Petaluma.

Peter Ehrlich, 69, of Petaluma, died Tuesday morning. He crashed on B Street, apparently cycling too fast as he headed down a hill and lost control at the intersection with El Rose Drive.

Ehrlich was thrown from his bike and suffered life-threatening head injuries. He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and died of his injuries Tuesday morning.
