Authorities are trying to determine how a man whose body was found Friday near a Rohnert Park creek died.

The man, who’s believed to be homeless and in his late 30s or early 40s, was found on the Hinebaugh Creek path, just behind a storage unit facility off Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park Police Sgt. Andrew Smith said Saturday.

“Someone from the storage facility found him,” Smith said.

It was unknown Saturday how the man died and whether the frigid temperatures that recently have hit Sonoma County played a role.

Smith said they’ll have to wait until the coroner’s office does an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

However, he added, “there’s no sign of foul play.”
