Double DUI arrests during weekend for one Sonoma man
A Sonoma man was arrested twice on suspected DUI charges this weekend, according to the CHP.
“Clearly some people don’t get the message,” said CHP Officer Jon Sloat, who reported the double DUI arrests.
Felipe Celis, 41, was stopped Friday evening, suspected of weaving as he towed a trailer on Mountain View Avenue. Celis pulled over on nearby Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park but ran off the road and into the ditch as he came to a stop, Sloat said.
Celis appeared drunk and failed sobriety tests. He was arrested, booked into the Sonoma County Jail and released after posting bail.
About 2:30 p.m. Sunday, officers went to Grange Road for a hit-and-run investigation. A resident reported a driver had left a crash scene after hitting a rock wall and tree.
The driver left behind a helpful piece of information - his truck’s license plate.
Officers traced the vehicle to Celis and found it parked at a nearby home where Celis was working, Sloat said.
He told officers a tire had blown and he’d lost control. Celis appeared to be intoxicated, failed sobriety tests, and was arrested and booked on suspected misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run.
He subsequently bailed out of jail.
