A 76-year-old man died in a crash Friday that temporarily closed a section of south Highway 101 just north of Highway 12 in Santa Rosa.

The Santa Rosa man, who hasn’t been identified, had taken the offramp to eastbound Highway 12 when he lost control of his Ford F250 pickup at a curve just after 10 a.m., CHP officials said. The truck rolled into the dirt median and overturned.

Emergency responders extricated the driver, who was unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, CHP said.

The crash remains under investigation. CHP officials are looking into whether the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
