Nehemiah BEAR
Visit Guest Book
Nehemiah Bear came into this world in San Francisco on October 8, 1947, son of Bryce and Ruth Boyer. He left for his last great adventure May 2, 2013. He was a big man with a big smile and equally big heart, and that's the way we will remember him. For many years he was a Board Member for the Ukiah CO-OP and active in the Board's Grants and Donations Committee. He was a building contractor by trade working on the Mendocino Coast with David Clayton, Architect. He also worked as a bartender and a fisherman in Ft. Bragg. He gave back to his community in many ways. He sponsored baseball teams as well as a race car - team Caturelli and was on their pit crew. He was musically inclined, and as a young man played lead guitar in the band "Banana Slugs" with Tommy Quinn, and "Fabulous Emanons" (no name spelled backwards). Bear was loved wherever he went. He is predeceased by his parents, and sister, Sandra Boyer. He is survived by his wife, Kerry Snyder, children Autumn Bear, Jed Bear and wife Samantha, his brother Dewey Boyer, and step children, Jessica Sylvia and husband Zach, Melissa Johnson and husband Nick, George Lowden, and several grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the family home, 1870 Live Oak Drive, Redwood Valley, CA.

Tito BELTRAN
Visit Guest Book
We would like to inform family and friends of the passing of Tito R. Beltran on May 4, 2013. He was born on February 6, 1940 in Hayward, CA while on a family visit, but grew up in San Francisco. Tito retired from PG&E with 30 years of service where he invented two patents for the company. He had close and dear lifelong friends which he met there. Tito leaves behind three sons, Dino (Johnnie), Darin, Daniel (Paula) and seven grandchildren, Derick, Drake, Joslynn, Katie, Paulina, Colleen and Devin, all of whom he loved very much. He was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Ann Beltran. Together they were able to send their children to (and graduate them from) Catholic school, especially Cardinal Newman. After retirement, he spent years volunteering at Ya-Ka-Ama building the dance circle that exists to this day. He also helped with many infrastructure needs still used to put on the year-round festivals. He always had a positive word for the Native American youth whom he enjoyed guiding with his kind and loving heart. Consistent encouragement to work and get one's education are what he was most known for. He was a proud member of the CA National Guard. Something not well known about Tito is that he was a Sun Dancer/Ghost Dancer, a commitment he took very seriously. With great thanks and regards to all who will miss his charm and unique views of life, a celebration of his life will be held Sunday May 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Giorgi Park, Healdsburg. You are welcome to bring a dish to share if you would like.

Juanita Jenny DAYOAN
Visit Guest Book
Fell asleep in death on May 9, 2013 in Santa Rosa, CA. Born Juanita Mojica on February 17, 1924, in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. She moved to New York in 1945 where she met her husband, Benedicto (Benny) Dayoan, who had come from the Philippines. They married in 1947 and moved to California to be close to family members who had moved there. They soon established a huge network of friends and family. They built their home and raised their two children in Santa Rosa. They always had a huge vegetable garden, fruit trees and farm animals. There wasn't a plant or flower she couldn't grow. She was known for her beautiful roses, grafting and pruning them herself. Jenny was an incredible cook, mastering both Puerto Rican and Filipino cuisines. She showed generosity and hospitality to family and friends when they stopped by. There was always something yummy cooking in her kitchen and she insisted they sit and eat; it wasn't an option! If they didn't eat she would send food home with them, she made people feel warm and loved. She often cooked and took food to sick friends and neighbors. To help support her family, Jenny began working as a seamstress when they arrived in Santa Rosa. She was quite accomplished and made clothes for herself and her children for years. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life, she never called them by their given names but gave them all affectionate nicknames. Jenny was preceded in death in 2005, by her husband of almost sixty years. She is survived by her son, Ben Dayoan, Jr and wife Jo, her daughter, Vidge Bertain, and husband Vince. Her grandchildren, Ian Bertain, wife Rena, Brandon Dayoan, wife Linda, Micah Dayoan, Leia Sandoval, husband Mario and Kenzie Bertain. Her six grandchildren are, Janessa and Jayden Bertain, Lana Dayoan, Wyatt, Madelyn and Charlotte Grace Sandoval. She also leaves her lifelong friends, Mary Gardaya, Lou and Rafael Mapaye and Kay Inovejas. Also, her beautiful nieces and nephew. Jenny's request was that there be no formal service. However, there will be graveside services at 12 noon on May 18, 2013 at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Ave., Santa Rosa. A gathering afterwards will be announced at the services. The family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff and "special" caregivers at Emeritus and the staff of Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jenny's name to Heartland Hospice. SANTA ROSA MORTUARY EGGEN AND LANCE CHAPEL, 545-3747.
