NORTH BAY LEAGUE
Montgomery 61, Santa Rosa 25
At Montgomery, despite missing four players because of illness, everyone
who played scored for the No. 1 Vikings (23-1, 12-0), who clinched a tie for
the league championship.
Raquel Gomes led Montgomery with 17 points and had five rebounds, Melissa
Azevedo had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Jessica von Tillow had nine points,
four rebounds and six steals.
Courtney Fitchner led Santa Rosa with 10 points.
Ursuline 62, Elsie Allen 27
At Ursuline, the No. 5 ranked Bears (15-9, 10-2) jumped out to a 21-8 lead
in the first quarter and never looked back against the Lobos (9-15, 7-5).
Heidi Mertle led the Bears with 11 points including one 3-pointer and Katie
Dyer added 10 points. Alyssa Garcia made two 3-pointers for the Bears.
Montoya Barton led the Lobos finishing with 10 and Ashley Peoples finished
with nine.
Rancho Cotate 64, Piner 43
At Rohnert Park, the Cougars played strong defense and scored 23 points in
the third quarter. Aly Hennington scored eight of her 16 points in the period
and Kelsey Mohrman hit a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter.
Hennington also had eight rebounds. Shellsea Stoughton added 11 points and
Randi Fleckenstine and Mohrman had 10 points each. Fleckenstine also had four
steals.
Rancho, which forced three 30-second calls, improved to 4-8 in league and
7-17 overall.
Jamie Rogers and Diane Freitas each had 11 points for Piner (6-18, 1-11).
Ukiah 55, Maria Carrillo 52
At Maria Carrillo, in a game with numerous lead changes, the Wildcats
outscored the Pumas 19-10 in the final period.
Lisa Muzio led Ukiah (14-10, 9-3) with 18 points and Shaun Reed had 16
points.
Melissa Knoll and Olivia Escobar each scored 13 points for Maria Carrillo
(12-12, 6-6) and Carly Callen added 12.
Maria Carrillo and Elsie Allen are tied for fourth place, which earns the
last spot in in the league playoffs.
SONOMA COUNTY LEAGUE
Analy 56, Healdsburg 51
At Sebastopol, the No. 2-ranked Tigers improved to 23-1 overall and 10-0 in
league. Kelly Mills hit two free throws late in the fourth quarter to seal the
victory.
Cassidy Dadaos led the Greyhounds (12-11, 6-4) with 17 points, and Kimmy
Warne led the Tigers with 15.
El Molino 40, Casa Grande 37
At Forestville, the Lions (10-14, 3-8) took control in the fourth quarter
and made several clutch free throws down the stretch to lock up the win. Megan
Byrn led El Molino with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Rachel Samana had eight points for the Gauchos (12-12, 4-6) before fouling
out in the fourth quarter.
NCL II
Middletown 52, Calistoga 43
At Middletown, Jessyka Wood scored 24 points to lead the Mustangs (13-12,
5-3).
Rachel Lilly led the Wildcats with 13 points and Yesenia Vasquez finished
with 12 points.
NORTH CENTRAL LEAGUE III
Santa Rosa Christian 43, Mendocino 23
At Santa Rosa, the Lions (11-12, 5-1) played a pressure defense that
produced 17 steals to lead them to a win over the Cardinals (6-17, 3-3).
Rosie Brown scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Lions and
Stephanie Caldwell finished with 12 points.
BOYS
NORTH CENTRAL LEAGUE III
Mendocino 71,
Santa Rosa Christian 67 (OT)
At Santa Rosa, the Cardinals (12-11, 3-3) closed an 18-point gap in the
fourth quarter and Dan McDonald tied the game for Mendocino with 16 seconds
left.
Mendocino won the game in overtime from the free throw line.
Joel Mishok led the Lions (12-11, 2-5) with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
McDonald led the Cardinals with 27 points.
WRESTLING
NORTH BAY LEAGUE
R. Cotate 48, Maria Carrillo 22
R. Cotate 66, Card. Newman 15
M. Carrillo 58, Card. Newman 16
At Cardinal Newman, Rancho Cotate finished second in league with the two
wins and will compete in the North Coast Section dual tournament Saturday at
Marin Catholic.
No. 3-ranked Ryan Gerber at 191 pounds won both of his matches for the
Cougars.
Cardinal Newman, which forfeited a large number of matches, had two bright
spots -- Kelly Bradley in the 275 pound weight class and Vince Silvestri at
217. Both finished their league seasons unbeaten.
