Lake County man injured in Mendocino County stabbing

A Lake County man was hospitalized after being stabbed in the chest, Mendocino County sheriff's officials reported Tuesday.

James Blesio, 34, of Nice told deputies he'd been at the dam area of Lake Mendocino with friend early Monday morning when he saw a man in the area he thought he knew.

Blesio said he called to the man, who then approached and stabbed him in the middle of his chest.

The wound caused Blesio to drop to the ground, he said, and the man with the knife left.

Blesio's friends took him to Ukiah Valley Medical Center and deputies were notified.

The victim didn't cooperate as deputies asked him questions, officials said.

Sheriff's officials said it remained unclear where the stabbing occurred and whether it was late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Deputies searched the lake area but found no evidence, officials said.

Because of his injury Blesio was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Officials asked anyone with information about the stabbing to contact Deputy Troy Furman at 463-4086.
