Close Palm Drive
EDITOR: Palm Drive Hospital directors should know that a sizeable portion of area residents would not be unhappy if the hospital closed, namely those who pay a parcel tax for a hospital they will never use, because they are Kaiser members or are committed to another hospital ("Palm Drive 'out of money,' " Wednesday).
It's obvious that Palm Drive isn't a viable operation in today's medical environment. I'm sympathetic to those with sentimental ties to the hospital and its employees, but the board has a fiduciary responsibility to the parcel taxpayers not to throw more good money after bad. I urge the board to shut the hospital down now and not run up more debt (to be paid by the taxpayers?).
