A man suspected of human trafficking was arrested Wednesday in Santa Rosa after an 11-month investigation, authorities said.

Police say Pedro Lopez- Plascencia, 27, of Santa Rosa was involved in the trafficking of a 14-year-old child at motels in Rohnert Park and the surrounding area, according to a Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety news release.

He was arrested while visiting Sonoma County Superior Court in Santa Rosa for an unrelated matter, according to Deputy Chief Kevin Kilgore.

Kilgore would not say what prompted the investigation.

Lopez- Plascencia was booked into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of six felony charges including: human trafficking of a minor for sex, pimping a minor under the age of 16, distribution of child pornography and providing a controlled substance to a minor, the release said.

He was being held on $750,000 bail.

The department urged anyone with information regarding this case or other possible victims of human trafficking to contact Officer Chris Snyder at 707-584-2600.
