Interactive map: California earthquakes and faults

This map shows earthquakes within the last 30 days of 2.5 magnitude or higher as red circles. Historical earthquakes of more than magnitude 5 are shown on a separate layer as blue circles. You can choose which layers to show using the menu available by clicking the icon in the top right corner of the map.

Click on a circular marker to show information for both historical and recent earthquakes. Earthquakes more than a month ago may take some time to appear on the historical layer. Faults from the Quaternary era are shown in orange. The Quaternary era is defined as roughly the last 1.6 million years. For more information, visit the USGS site.
